Tandoori Stuffed mushroom Recipe

These tandoori stuffed mushrooms are marinated with a creamy  masala or sauce. You can use tandoori red masala to coat and marinate them.

If you love spicy tandoori stuffed mushrooms then marinate them in tandoori masala and cook. You can even use a achari masala also.

Mushroom is  loved  almost by everyone and are familiar with it's miraculous beneficial power.

The health benefits of mushroom include weight loss, relief from high cholesterol levels and diabetes.

They are rich source of fiber,Selenium, Vitamin C and Vitamin D. And also increase immunity system.

Mushroom is also known as khumb in India and used to prepare many dishes with it.

In tandoori mushroom, they are filled with vegetables and cheese and coated with a creamy base marination and cooked or roast over fire charcoal. They are also known as bharwan khumb or khumb da Bangla in Hindi. You can use them as your appetizer in your small  family get-together.

Steps to make the recipe

1. Making the filling

Cut and chopped the green, red and yellow bell peppers. Take two mushroom wash and chopped them finely.

Take a non stick pan and heat little oil. When the oil become hot, add all the chopped bell peppers, green chillies and  mushrooms. Add salt as required and saute for 2 minutes.

Transfer the above mixture in a bowl and cool down. Add half of the grated cheese and mix well.

Your fillings is ready now . You can add some cilantro or parsley leaves if desired.

2. Making the marination

Take a mixing bowl add the cashew paste,  greek yogurt , remaining grated cheese, cumin powder, and salt as per taste. Add the cooking oil and mix very well till you get a thick consistency of the mixture. Keep the mixture aside for later use.

3. Stuffing the fillings

Now clean and wash the mushrooms and Pat dry them using a soft tissue paper or kitchen towels. Mushrooms are best to wash under running water .

Now gently twist off or cut off the stems from all mushrooms for Stuffing. You can use a small teaspoon to make a large whole for adding more stuffing into the mushrooms.

 Now fill the mushrooms with the above prepared stuffing mixture using a spoon.

Join two mushrooms with each other by the filling side.

4. Making stuffed mushroom

Dip the mushrooms in the prepared sauce and Shewer them in a thin iron Shewer.

Cook them for 5-6 minutes in a tandoor till golden in colour. Similarly you can cook them in Oven also. Remove the mushrooms from the shewer and serve hot .

Garnished Tandoori Stuffed mushroom Recipe

These tandoori stuffed mushrooms are stuffed with finely chopped bell peppers, mushroom and cheese. They are then coated with a creamy  masala or sauce. Cooked over a charcoal tandoor or oven till golden.

  • 10-12 fresh button Mushrooms
  •  1/2 slice of a capsicum
  • 1/2 slice of each red and yellow pepper
  • 1/3 teaspoon chopped green chilly
  • 4 teaspoon processed cheese ( grated)
  •  2 teaspoon cashew nut paste.
  •  1/3 teaspoon cumin powder.
  • 1/4 teaspoon green cardamom powder.
  •  2 teaspoon fresh cream
  •  2 teaspoon greek yogurt ( Hang Curd)
  •  2 teaspoon cooking oil
  •  Salt as per taste
   How to make the recipe

  1. Finely chopped the capsicum and red, yellow bell pepper slice.
  2. Take two mushroom and wash under running water. Dry and chopped them.
  3. Heat 1/2 teaspoon oil in a pan and saute  the chopped capsicum, bell peppers and  mushroom for 1 minute.
  4. Add the chopped green chili and pinch of salt. Mix them nicely.
  5. Remove and transfer the mixture in a bowl and cool down.
  6. Then mix half of the grated cheese with the mixture. These is the filling to stuff.
  7. Take yoghurt in a mixing bowl and add the cashew paste, cumin powder, fresh  cream, remaining grated cheese, oil   and salt.
  8.   Whisk everything very well. This is the  masala or sauce we use to coat the mushrooms.
  9.  Wash and clean the remaining mushrooms under running water and  pat dry using a kitchen towel.
  10.  Now gently twist off the stems of all mushrooms.
  11.  Using a small knife or table teaspoon widen the whole of the mushrooms to accommodate more fillings.

   Making stuffed mushrooms

  1. Stuffed each mushrooms with the  prepared fillings.
  2. Join two mushrooms with each other  from the filling side.
  3. Mix and coat all the joined mushrooms  with the prepared cashew based masala  to marinate for 15 minutes.
  4. If using wooden sticks then soaked them in water for 30 minutes.
  5. Now take one joined mushroom and carefully thread into the Shewer one  by one.
  6. Preheat Oven at 240°C for 15 minutes and line a baking tray with aluminum foil.
  7. Place the Shewer over the tray and bake for 10 minutes.
  8. Similarly thread the mushrooms in a iron shewer and cook in a charcoal tandoor for 6 minutes or till golden.
  9.  Remove them from shewer and serve  with mint chutney.

                             Serving tips 
  • This delicious mushroom are served with green chutney (Cilantro mint sauce) .
  • You can served Lachcha onion (onion rings) and lemon wedges along with them .
                             Recipe notes
  • In this recipe I have used creamy based masala to coat the mushrooms. You can use any other masala or sauce to coat them.
  • For spicy version of stuffed mushrooms, it is good to use tandoori red masala to coat them.
  • You can even use achari masala to make tandoori achari  mushroom.
