Burger is the short form of Hamburger is a sandwich where a cooked Patty ( usually ground meat) is placed inside a bun. The patty may be pan fried or baked or grilled.
Burger are usually served with cheese , tomato, lettuce, onion , pickles and condiments like mayonnaise, ketchup and mustard are placed on sesame seed bun.
It is a hugely popular dish around the world and its popularity has given birth many fast food chains like Burger King, Big Mac etc.

Burger is originally made using ground meat usually beef and hence the term burger can be applied to the meat Patty. Since the term hamburger usually refer beef , so burger may be prefixed with the type of meat or meat substitute used as in beef burger, turkey burger and veggie burger.
Though it was invented as a non vegetarian dish, its popularity has made the culinary experts to produce vegan version of burger which is called veg Burger.
Veg burger is now as popular as non veg burger . There are more varieties you can choose in veg burger .
Today we are going to make vegetable or veg burger ( veggie burger) recipe . You can make different types of veg burger at home with these simple and easy recipe.
The most important part in making a burger is its Patty. If you know the basics of making a Patty then you can experiment with different ingredients to make different types of burger easily at home.
Veg burger recipe is very simple and you need some basic ingredients which are easily available in you kitchen. You just need to buy the Bun.
Today I am going to show you how to make

Veg burger recipe step by step. Grilled or baked vegetable patty is arranged inside a toasted sesame bun with onion, tomato slice and lettuce. Burger sauce is applied inside the bun to make veg(veggie) burger.

Preparation
1. Chopped the French beans, cauliflower, carrot and green peas and boiled them for 6-7 minutes. You can also pressure cooked them for one whistle.
2. Grate or mashed the potato. If using cottage cheese then grate and keep aside.
3. Stain the vegetables and let them cooled down . Now grind them in a mixer grinder roughly for a smooth texture.
If you can finely chopped the vegetables then don't need to use the mixer grinder.
4. Now you can either seasoning the vegetables with cumin, chilli , turmeric powder , garam masala and salt in a pan using one teaspoon Olive oil or directly mix them with the vegetables.
I personally mix them directly as our vegetables are already cooked and later we will pan fry , roast or grill the patty.
5. In a mixing bowl , take the vegetables mixture and add the Cumin powder, turmeric powder, chilli, garam masala and salt. If using potato or cottage cheese ,add them.
6. Further add one teaspoon corn starch, bread crumbs and Cilantro leafs and mix to form a dough like mixture. Corn starch work as a binding agent. You can substitute it with others like rice flour and maize flour.
7. Now make a Patty with the mixture and keep aside. Make sure the size of your Patty is as equal as your burger buns.
Batter making for burger Patty
• Take a mixing bowl and add the remaining corn starch and all purpose flour. Slowly add two to three teaspoon water to make a thick batter. Don't make a watery batter. You can add more Corn starch if the batter become diluted.
You can make another batter by mixing gram flour and rice flour together with little water. Maze flour can also used to make a batter with gram flour .
Grilling the burger Patty
1. Dip the prepared Patty into this batter and dust with the bread crumbs. Make sure all part of the patty is dusted with the crumbs. Press the patty between your palm to set .
2. For the soya protein Patty use corn flakes instead of bread crumbs. Crush the corn flakes roughly with hands and dust with the patty .
3. Take a non stick pan and heat olive oil in slow flame. Grill the patty in both side till crisp golden.
4. Remove in a tissue paper to absorb excess oil .
You can baked or grilled the patty in oven also .You can grilled these burger patty in a Preheated oven at 180 degree celcius for 20 minutes on each side.
Prepare a baking tray by lining an aluminum foil over it . Now place a wire rack and grease it with oil . Place the prepared burger patties over it and grilled them flipping both sides .
Burger sauce making
• A good burger sauce is very important for a classic burger recipe. It is the sauce that makes your burger taste great. So you need to make a perfect classic burger sauce for your recipe.
A burger sauce is a flavoured mayo sauce with some extra ingredients. These flavoured mayo sauce is known as Aioli.
My favorite one is easy to whip up and most of the ingredients are easily available in your kitchen or pantry.
In a mixing bowl , mix together all the ingredients and whisk to make the burger sauce .
• You can make following two types of burger sauce at your home.
• BBQ Aioli ( 1/3 cup mayo + 1 tbs BBQ)
• Mustard Aioli ( 1/3 cup mayo + 1 tbs French mustard)
• You can covered and refrigerated these sauce for one week to use..
MAKING THE VEGGIE BURGER
1. Slice the sesame seed bun into two equal halves and toast till crisp brown. You can spread some butter on the bun and toast.
In restaurant , sometimes cheese is spread on one half of the bun .
2. Now take the lower half of the bun and spread the prepared burger sauce over the toasted side.
3. Place the Patty over it and topped it with onion and tomato slices. Again place the shredded or chopped lettuce leafs over the onion tomato slice.
4. Take the second half sesame seed bun and spread the sauce over the toasted side. If you have applied cheese then avoid spreading the sauce.
5. Now cover the first half bun with the second sesame seed bun. Take a toothpick and olive and thread from top of the bun to set the burger.
6. Serve the yummy burger with some french fries or potato wedges.

Ingredients
- A sesame seed Bun
- Lettuce leafs chopped
- Onion slice
- Tomato slice
- Salt
- 1/2 cup french beans
- 1 piece of carrot
- 1/2 cup green peas
- Small portion of cauliflower florets
- 1 boiled Potato or 1/2 cup cottage cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/4 teaspoon garam masala ( optional)
- 2 green chili ( jalapeno) chopped
- Fresh Cilantro leafs( chopped)
- 2 teaspoon corn starch
- 1/2 teaspoon all purpose flour
- 4 teaspoon fine quality bread crumbs
- Salt as per taste
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup tomato ketchup
- 2 teaspoon sweet pickle relish
- 2 teaspoon White vinegar
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- Finely chopped the beans, cauliflower, carrot and green peas. Blanched them for about 5 minutes.n
- Drain and cool down completely. You can grind them in a mixer as well. Grate the boiled potato.
- Take the vegetables in a mixing bowl and mix with cumin powder, turmeric powder, green chili, garam masala, cilantro leaves and salt.
- Add the grated potato, corn flour, all purpose flour and bread crumbs.
- Mix everything nicely to make a dough like texture.
- Divide the dough into equal parts and make round shaped Patty. .
- Take a mixing bowl and add the remaining corn flour and all purpose flour. Pour 2 - 3 teaspoon water and mix nicely to make a thick batter without any lumbs.
- Dip the prepared Patty in the batter and coat with the bread crumbs nicely so that all parts are coated well with the bread crumbs.
- Press the coated Patty between the palms of hands to set. For soya Patty coat them with crushed corn flakes.t
- Heat olive oil in a non stick pan or tawa and grill all the Patty on both sides till crisp golden.
- Youu can even bake them in a oven at 180° C for 20 minutes on both sides.
- In a mixing bowl whisk together all the ingredients for burger sauce to make the sauce.
- Slice the sesame bun into two equal parts and apply butter. Toast them to crisp golden. You can even apply cheese on one half of the bun.
- Now apply the prepared sauce on the inner side of the toasted bun.
- Place the burger Patty over the lower half of the bun. Apply some sauce over the patty.
- Place the onion and tomato slice over the patty. Topped them with chopped or shredded lettuce leaves.
- Place the second half toasted bun over the lettuce and press slightly to set everything.
- Take a toothpick and thread from the top with a olive to set the burger.
- Serve it with french fries or potato wedges.
