Chicken also known as Murgh in Hindi is very popular in all section of our society. You can serve Murgh Kandhari tikka in your social events like birthday party, wedding ceremony and in corporate events.

Method of preparation for the recipe

1. Wash the Chicken  and cut it in Tikka size shape. Pat it dry with paper towels. Marinade the Chicken pieces with Ginger Garlic paste,Salt , Lemon juice and Olive Oil. Keep it aside for 1 hour.

2. Peel the Beetroot and grated it with a Grater. Peel the Pomegranate also.

3. Make a fine paste using Cashew nuts, Cheese , half of the grated Beetroot and Pomegranate seeds.

4. Now take a mixing bowl and mix  the above fine paste with yogurt, remaining Ginger garlic paste , green chilly paste, Cumin powder,Fresh Cream ,Salt and Olive Oil. And put the remaining grated Beetroot to the mixture and mix well.

5. Now pour the marinaded Chicken pieces to the above mixture and mix well . Keep it refrigerated for 2 hours .

6. Shew the chicken pieces in a shewer and grill in a  Charcoal Ovalclay for 10 minutes to cook properly. You can also grill the Chicken pieces in an Oven for 15 minutes or until fully cooked.

Kandhari chicken  recipe is a creamy chicken recipe with pomegranate and beetroots. It is one of the healthiest chicken Tikka recipe with lots of health benefits.

Prep time 20 min Cook time 10 min Serve 2 , Author :- Mobasir hassan

  • 1 lbs  Boneless chicken Legs
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 2 medium size beetroot
  • 1 fresh pomegranate 
  • 1/2 cup cashew nuts
  • 1/2 cup grated cheese
  • 1/2 cup cream
  • 1/2 cup yogurt (hung curd)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tablespoons green chilly paste
  • Some Fresh Coriander leafs 
  • 3 tablespoon olive oil or cooking oil
  • Salt to taste
   How to make the recipe

  1.  Clean and wash the chicken and cut  into cubes size pieces.  Pat them dry  completely with kitchen towel.
  2. Mix them with half of the ginger garlic paste, salt, lemon juice and olive oil. Let them marinate for 1/2 an hour.
  3. Peel the beetroot and grate them nicely in a mixing bowl. Similarly peel the pomegranate and remove all seeds.
  4. Now make a fine paste with the cashew nuts, half of the grated beetroots, cheese and pomegranate seeds adding small amount of water. Make sure the paste is smooth and not watery. 
  5. Take the paste in a mixing bowl and add the yoghurt, remaining ginger garlic paste, cumin powder, lemon juice, salt, fresh cream and olive oil.
  6. Add the remaining grated beetroots and whisk everything well to make a smooth thick masala.
  7.  Mix this masala with the chicken pieces  nicely and marinate for 3 - 4 hours.

   Making Kandhari chicken 

  1. After the marination period, bring the chicken from refrigerator and start to thread in a shewer.
  2. If using wooden sticks then soak them  in water for 30 minutes.
  3. While threading the chicken pieces keep a minimum gap in between them. This will help to cook the chicken pieces properly from all sides.
  4. Preheat oven at 240°C for 15 minutes and line a baking tray with aluminum  foil and place a rack over it.
  5. Now place the shewer on the tray and  grill for 15 minutes or till done.
  6. Remove the baking tray in halfway and flip the shewer and brush some butter over them.
  7. Similarly place the shewer in a preheated tandoor and cook for about 10 minutes or till crisp golden.
  8. Rotate the Shewer while cooking and brush oil or butter at an interval.
  9. Serve them with cilantro mint chutney,  lemon wedges and onion slices.

                           Serving tips
  • Kandhari chicken are served as an appetizer with green chutney and Lachcha onions.
