Chicken Hot & Sour Soup
Hot and sour soup is a healthy soup and considered as effective against Flu, cold and fever. Vegetables like mushroom, carrot, cabbage are simmered in stock water and seasoned with salt and pepper. Herbs like ginger, bamboo shoots, green chili and garlic are also used.
🥗 Ingredients
- 1 chicken breast
- 2 tablespoon julienne cabbage and carrots
- 1 tablespoon chopped tomato.
- 2 mushroom finely sliced
- 1/2 teaspoon chopped ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon chopped garlic
- 1/4 teaspoon green chili paste
- 1/4 teaspoon chopped bamboo shoots
- 1/4 teaspoon while pepper powder
- 1/2 tablespoon red chilly paste
- 1/3 tablespoon red chilly sauce
- 1/4 tablespoon dark soya sauce
- 1/4 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoon beaten egg
- Salt as per taste
👩🍳 Instructions
- Slice the chicken breast into thin strips and chopped them finely. You can boil and chopped the chicken breast as well.
- Heat half teaspoon oil in a deep vessel pan or wok and saute ginger, garlic in high flame for 30 seconds.
- Add chopped tomatoes and saute for another few seconds. Further add the chopped chicken and saute for one minute or till tender.
- Slow the flame to low and add the mushrooms and stir for a while. Mix the red chilly paste and red chilly sauce and stir. Now pour one cup water or low sodium chicken stock and simmer.
- Add the cabbage and carrot slice, salt , bamboo shoots and white pepper powder. And simmer for a minute. Pour corn flour slurry and stir to mix evenly and simmer.
- Now add the dark soya sauce into the soup and simmer.
- Check the seasoning and thickness of soup and pour a beaten egg circular wise into the soup. Simmer the soup for a minute and pour few drops rice vinegar into the soup.
- Stir and sprinkle some chopped coriander leaves and remove to serve.

- You can use different types of vegetables of your choice. It is good to use more healthy and nutritious vegetables.
- To make it more spicy green chili paste is used . You can opted for crushed black pepper powder. These are very helpful in cold and running nose.
