Paneer Seekh kabab (Kebab) recipe
Paneer Seekh Kabab recipe with step by step instructions to make paneer Seekh Kebab using on tawa or pan, over charcoal Tandoor and using oven. Seekh Kebab is a very popular dish around the world . And when we heard about Seekh Kebab, we certainly presume that it is a lamb or a chicken Seekh Kebab. But due to immense popularity and demand, culinary experts has modified the Non vegetarian version of Seekh Kebab into a vegetarian version.
What is Paneer Seekh Kabab?
Paneer Seekh Kabab is a popular Indian appetizer made from paneer (Indian cottage cheese) mixed with spices, herbs, and sometimes vegetables, shaped onto skewers (seekh means skewer) and grilled or cooked in a tandoor (clay oven) or on a grill.
Typically a Seekh Kebab is made with minced or ground meat mix with spices. Then placed into a shewer or wooden stick into cylindrical shaped and grilled in a charcoal tandoor or on a BBQ grill.

Steps to make the recipe
Preparation
1. Grate the Paneer and Potato nicely without any big chunks. You can mashed them as well .![]() |
Potato is used to give the kabab the binding texture. You can avoid to use it.
2. In a mixing bowl , take the grated paneer and mix with chopped ginger, garlic, green chili, turmeric powder, garam masala, chat masala, jeera powder, and salt. Give a nice mix to make a dough alike.

3. Add corn flour and mix well. Corn flour will give it the crisp texture . Now add the bread crumbs and mix well. Bread crumbs will make the mixture dry by absorbing the excess water. This will also help the seekh kabab from not to break while arranging them in seekh or Shewer.
Making the Paneer seekh kabab
Divide the paneer mixture into equal parts and make round shaped balls.
By using Pan or tawa
Take satay sticks or wooden sticks and with wet palm of your hand place a small balls of the mixture on the satay stick into cylindrical shaped. Press firmly from all sides of the mixture when placing on the stick. You can soaked the satay sticks for 15 minutes in water. This will prevent not to get burnt while cooking the Seekh Kebab on tawa.
Heat little oil in a non stick pan on slow flame heat. When become hot place the sticks on the tawa or pan and roast. Rotate the sticks so that the kabab get well cooked from all sides. Roast them till they become crisp golden. When they become crisp golden remove from the pan and serve. You can remove the satay stick from the kebab and cut them into pieces and serve .
By using tandoor
You need long iron Shewer to cook the seekh kebab in tandoor. Lightly wet your one hand and firmly press the mixture to cover the shewer length wise. After that put the Shewer in the tandoor and cook for 4-5 minutes .
By using Oven
Procedure is almost same . You can either use wooden sticks or small iron shewer.
If using wooden sticks, make sure to soak them in water. Then arrange the mixture on them into cylindrical shaped.
Preheat an oven to 240°C for 15 minutes. Then place the shewer on a baking tray and put the tray in the oven. Bake them for 12 - 15 minutes or till crisp golden. Remove and cut into pieces and serve hot along with mint chutney or tomato sauce.

Serving Tips
- Paneer Seekh Kebab can be served with green chutney (Cilantro mint sauce) and Lachcha onion and lemon slice.
